Italo Bliss from the French producer duo, Palavas. Peak hour disco music!

Palavas are two mysterious producers hailing from the South of France ready to position themselves as one of the hottest new Indie Dance duos on the scene. Their name, Palavas, is a reference to Palavas-les-Flots (FR), a vacation town near their home that in the 1980’s owned the prestigious title of «Queen of Mediterranean Beaches.” In their music, Palavas aims to recapture this golden era, with sun drenched italo disco elements, and summery beats.

The duo has already been busy making a mark on the scene. Their first eps were released on Intercept Records in addition to their own label, AZZUR, and have garnered DJ support by acts such as Hot Toddy, Gilles Peterson, Folamour, Ame, Laurent Garnier, Marcus Worgull, Grazzz, Crackazat and more. They’ve also been busy DJing, with highlight performances at the I Love Techno and Big Bang music festivals in Europe.

“We wanted something crazy that Djs could play peak time. We have focused on the breakdown to make it epic. It is clear that the 80’s sound has once again influenced us on this one.”

Palavas’ latest singles “Giorgio Baroudeur” and “Aston Martine” are  out now on Brooklyn’s toucan sounds record label, and they sound amazing. Here it is the first one for yuor pleasure!

Brazilian duo Auderê delivering the upbeat feeling needed in deep house

Composed of both Brazilian Henrique and Kenzo, the duo brings to the dance floor old school House, Techno and everything in between. With more than 4 years of experience, they have accumulated many successful releases and remixes in previous projects, been played on some of Brazil’s hottest electronic music radio stations (Energia FM) and been supported by big names of the industry such as Kungs.

Now, moved to Berlin, they reformulate themselves in this new bold project: Auderê. With the main focus on the finest of House and Techno.

Their last track has been released 7th of February, together with their first single. But some little surprises may come along in their recent created socials, so follow up to keep yourself updated.

The track gives a chill old school House vibe, with an upbeat feeling. It was inspired by many lofi house and new disco producers coming to light these days, and you can hear the influence of these older genres mixed with a new fresh vibe in the song. The piano keeps it relaxed while the bassline makes it groovy and fun to listen to. Great work!

HP Vince delivers a great disco edit on Woman Fantasy.

HP Vince started the famous P.I.M.P. project on Touché records together with Jamez. HP Vince is a versatile producer if it comes to styles. Bomat’s new classic house gem on Nervous Recordings’ sub label

A warm and soulful house tune, consisting of a proper house groove with jazzy good time chords, just how we like it here in theBasement.

Classy Talk is the first single of Moritz Bommert aka Bomat, a 29 years old producer and DJ from Berlin. The track is released on Nurvous Records, the sub label of the iconic New York City based house label Nervous Records (releasing house music for decades by genre defining producers like Little Louie Vega, Kerri Chandler, Felix Da Housecat, Frankie Knuckles and many more).

Bomat is Moritz Bommert, a 29 year old music producer and DJ from Berlin. Moritz’ passion for house music startet at age 19 in 2010, when he moved to Berlin to explore the electronic music scene.

Deep diving into the city’s vibrant musical landscape he worked as composer, producer and DJ for several years, playing and releasing music in different constellations until 2015. After a creative break Moritz returned into the studio in 2018, working with different vocalist and musicians in order to find his very own sound.

Seems like a good future ahead for Moritz.

Amir Alexander releases new EP Zero Dark Thirty on King Street Sounds

The name Amir Alexander is a well known guy in our city, and a tag that those with an ear to the underground of all things House and Techno should already be familiar with. A solid history of high-quality and organic electronic cuts on the likes of Argot, Rekids, Deep Vibes, Third Ear and many more have laid the foundations for Amir’s reputation as an innovative and reliable source of dancefloor weapons. His latest output comes in the shape of ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ a strong three-tracker EP that finds a home on Nite Grooves/King Street Sounds for a January 2020 release to kick off the new decade.

The lead track ‘Cock Blockers’ is a one man collaboration as Amir brings out his Ricky Spitzz alter-ego on the vocal work of track one. Amir throws down a classic organ bass lead with his own vocal phrases undergoing radical FX work to evoke an intergalactic sound signature that is intensified by the spacey synth bursts which slide and squirm up and down the frequency spectrum with pitch bends and modulation to melt the mind. Part throwback, part future-facing in style – the contrast is classic Amir Alexander and sets the scene for the package perfectly.

‘Zero Dark Thirty’ backs up the lead track, lowering the action to a more reflective tone that allows the kicks, deep ample bass and synth hits to breathe spontaneously. The extra space allows room for reverb and decay tails to hypnotise listeners into a dreamy state of bliss which is amplified by the classic House inspired padded strings which add to the daydream and leave you wondering where the 8 minutes that the track runs for dissolved into.

Wrapping up the EP is ‘Morning Prayer’ which ends the EP with another meditative  and soulful groove for the afterhours gatherings. Deep melodic vocal groans carry the higher frequencies through as a swirling and constant chord seeps and glides around the kicks and bass, sliding with subtle LFO filter modulation to ingest the listener’s mind up into the atmosphere.

It’s another notch on Amir’s ever-growing belt of a catalogue and importantly marks the turn of the decade where the focus is future-facing with an influenced foot still rooted in the eras that made House and Techno the kings of electronic music. We take the best from behind us to combine with the now, to create a better future and Amir Alexander is doing exactly that, with drum machines and synthesizers.

‘Zero Dark Thirty’ is out now on Nite Grooves/King Street Sounds and available at all leading electronic music stores.

Tsunano, a new discovery from China

New Chinese rising star Tsunano knows how to make a statement whether that be through his sultry vocals, multi-fusion compositions or his striking image that has been captured by fashion outlets such as Nylon Shanghai, Lui and L’Officiel.

‘Educational’ is the latest release from Tsunano and can be compared to the funky House vibes similar of Disclosure, or the drumkits from our beloved Kaytranada. Having produced for artists such as Chris Lee and Momo Wu, Tsunano has taken the reigns on the vocals and has taken it up to the next level as his buttery tone swirls across the beat, flickering in and out of falsetto before embarking on an insanely catchy spoken word, rap-like verse. Blending together a culmination of Electronic, Hip-Hop, Reggae and Funk, you can hear each of Tsunano’s influences.

The bass constantly flickers between grooves whilst a minor melodic chord progression offers a hint of melancholy before a heavier bass lead, toe-tapping drop takes over. ‘Educational’ is a song that forces you to pay attention, which it certainly has done for Universal as their French division are currently championing the tune and it’s fair to say that it is standing strong to be the hottest new tune to hit the radio globally.

If the product itself wasn’t enough, Tsunano made sure to pair a stunning and incredibly aesthetically pleasing video with the song, featuring the streets of Hong Kong whilst making sure to show off his flair for artistic vision. The most striking element of the video, however, is the first 30 seconds where Tsunano makes a poignant speech on the construct of femininity.

Since first venturing into his music career at the age of 17, Tsunano quickly gained popularity in China and has earned recognition of acts such as Yellow Claw, Cesqeaux, Aazar and more and has shared the stage with many international icons by performing at events and festivals in China & beyond such as Storm Festival and Amsterdam Dance Event. He is an artist so artistically in-tune and detail orientated that it’s clear to see how he has rapidly become of the leading trailblazers in the Asian Electronic scene.

Shout out to Tsunano!
