Edu Imbernon joins the cartel for Dias de Campo

Hailing from Valencia, this young visionary DJ and producer has become quite the celebrity not only on home soil, but also that of the international music scene. With an international touring schedule throughout the year, it is no surprise that his songs have reached the ears of millions and the name Edu alone can only point in one direction when the topic of music arises in conversation.

Destined to study Economics at the University of Valencia, Edu decided that his vocation might not be regurgitating information about how the Heckscher-Ohlin Model shows effects of trade, but rather life in front of the crowd and and behind the decks be it.

His unique blend of electronica, house and indie music spawned from his arrival in Berlin, where his track “el baile alemán” alongside Catalan DJ and friend Coyu, on Liebe Detail’s label was appointed “Best Underground Track of the Year” by Beatport in 2009 and stayed at #1 for two solid weeks, which wasn’t a common occurrence at the time….

FAYER

2012 saw the birth of FAYER music, and has quickly become an international phenomenon in electronic music. Holding irregular events on the east cost of Spain, with no more than 100 people attending in its nascence, the brand and label has gone from strength to strength as it continues to surprise those who attend the events, and follow the music the label releases. Seven years later, the label has been involved with and hosted some of the biggest names in music, including The Martinez Brothers, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler to name but a few. The sheer magnitude of the aforementioned names alone just goes to show how only the best can transform humble beginnings into a career bearing many fruits.

Initially held in a spontaneous way, the origin and result was a party between friends held without the desire for profit. Quickly ‘the family’ grew and had no choice but to move to the Oven room of the Valencia’s  La3 Club. Years later, Fayer has become a brand with the aim of its commitment to be an international reference in the always bubbling scene of electronic music.

Dubbed by some as El Rey de España, he is flying the flag and is flying it high, exhibiting his raw talent in not only his live sets and at his studio, but also his prowess within remixes, as seen in The XX’s Crystalised below.

As a DJ, Edu’s truly global touring schedule continues to mature. Each of the last 3 years have seen over 100 shows across 30 countries in over 5 continents with stand out sets at some of the biggest festivals on the world stage including Sonar, TomorrowLand, Coachella, Ultra, and BPM Festival. Not to mention London’s Fabric, Berlin’s Watergate and Warung Beach Club in Brazil; and being the nucleus of dance music, Edu has held consecutive Space Ibiza residencies bookended by performances at the legendary opening and closing parties.

I started DJing at the age of 16 after a short trip to Ibiza and the discovery of this music.

Listen to his deep and imaginative take on his good friend Sutja Gutiérrez’s song “Your Rules”.

With our third edition of Dias de Campo just around the corner, theBasement’s very own WHATEVER CHARLES saw fit to ask Edu in a recent interview about his thoughts of not only the festival, but also about the growing musical scene that Valencia has offered in the last decade and its recovery after the cessation of La Ruta del Bakalao.

‘[Dias de Campo] surprised me a lot…I see it as growing rapidly and it couldn’t be better organised’

For those Spanish speakers that desire an interesting an informative take on the electronic scene in Valencia and his thoughts on Dias de Campo, give it a listen below.

I’m a very melodic person, but I’m aware not everyone is, so what I try to do is combine melodic or dreamy music with more direct tracks that need no thinking, just dancing.

Playing two of the three days we have at Dias de Campo, Edu will most definitely bring something new to the table, and with his maturity in the dance scene, he is exactly the addition we wanted and the icing on the cake for the festival. We can’t wait for you to experience this genius if you haven’t already.

Here is the rough agenda as to which artists are playing on what day. The set-by-set schedule will be released in the coming days, as we look to get it perfect and make your festival experience the best it can possibly be.

See you on the weekend.
