FREE ACCESS. GOOD VIBES. GREAT MUSIC.

FREE ACCESS. GOOD VIBES. GREAT MUSIC.

Reminiscing Dias de Campo 2019

Two weeks ago saw Dias de Campo’s season three of our much-anticipated summer-welcoming event. For those having attended previously, one would have well known that our festival, with a heady main of daytime playtime and a side dish of low-down dirty dance-floor hijinks, made for quite the meal to hone-in on that desired intimate feel of a festival, and without tooting our own trumpet, expectations did not surpass reality.

Montanejos is, quite frankly, one of the most picturesque treasures that Spain holds in its ancient archives and it does not disappoint. Surrounded by archaic buildings left centuries ago, and a ubiquity of old ruins, this hidden Spanish treasure has been and will be the crème de la crème of locations for our budding getaway-from-the-city festival in the years to come.

As is the same with the start of most weekends away from the city life, energy levels were at an all-time high as people stepped off their two-hour coach journey or car-pool filled with friends and solid grooves in preparation for what was going to be a spectacular weekend.

Those difficult-to-escape struggles of daily life for those attending DDC were soon to be vanished, and the festival with its bijou-size feel, well-cultivated line-up and pretty relaxed yet deliberate approach to making this far from conventional festival what it is, in our eyes, has succeeded in every way possible.

One thing separating Dias de Campo from the plethora of others is the super friendly mantra and ethos ebbing through it. You’re less likely to find drunken ruffians throwing lukewarm beers in a mosh-pit over an innocent crowd of girls and more likely to be gifted a hug, or a complimentary present from a fellow party-goer, and this is the mission we have set out to accomplish over the last three years.

This year we really did pull out all the stops, and with stand-out sets from monarchs of dance-music Axel Boman, Joy Orbison, Jon K, Edu Imbernon, Dan Shake and Hamish Cole, the bar was set high for the local budding musicians looking to showcase their raw talent. And showcase it they did.

Friday’s headliners kicked off with Swedish powerhouse and Studio Barnhus’ very own Axel Boman followed by Spanish star-boy Edu Imbernon with incredible sets rocking the Tipi x Jägermeister stage all night long until sun light hit the mountains. It seemed impossible for anyone to leave the Tipi stage as Edu was playing, as he slinked behind the decks playing banger upon banger leaving the crowd with an unforgettable memory of Spainish dance music’s crowned king.

Those in attendance rose early, and the Yoga and Zumba session near the Montanejan springs were the perfect way to start the second day of the festival. Valencian idie rock-bands kicked off the Saturday in the right way, creating the perfect vibe in the Central Plaza of the idyllic town, with standout performances from the likes of Escarlates, Rafa Molina and Polock.

After prodigious exercise and over-use of all muscular tissue from two fun-filled nights of dancing to some of the most funky and riveting music to which our ears have laid siege, Sunday morning’s Yoga and Zumba class almost felt mandatory if dancing to Edu Imbernon’s final set was going to be possible as well as other sets including Butter Side Up’s owner Hamish Cole closing the festival with the most solid of grooves.

Joy Orbison warming up b2b Jon K

Saturday night: Joy Orbison b2b Jon K

Despite being a festival in its nascence, just being present around the outskirts of the three stages, the maturity of both the organising and the music could really be felt, and that is something we really wanted to accomplish this time round, and it is what we are going to strive for in the future. With over 50 acts playing at the festival, ranging from all different backgrounds including Sweden, England, South America and not surprisingly Spain, more tech and organisation that we could have ever imagined, this edition of Dias de Campo was a bar above the rest.

Thank you to the entire population of Montanejos for opening up their doors, their homes and their hearts to all of our party-goers, you are the unsung heroes here.

Big shouts to our friends at the Council of Montanejos for hosting us. Without a doubt the most integral part of the festival, as without them, we would have no festival. It is in our best interest that we retain your trust and treat your beautiful town with the utmost respect that it so rightly deserves. Not only did the Council grant us rights for premises, but also gave us workers to help with the organisation of the festival. We hope this relationship lasts forever.

Big love to the crew at Visit Montanejos as well for their continued support and promotion of our event, which was invaluable as it is our absolute mission to spread the gospel of House across spain and overseas.

People of Montanejos, WE SALUTE YOU.

Until 2020 DDC.

Top 10 Tracks from Gazzz696 – May 2019

Following a fun-filled and what some would call a burly April, May presented itself with many dates in the diary, and despite the large anticipation, last month did not disappoint.

We kickstarted the month off with a huge set at Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and with one of the biggest crowds we have had in front of us, that set will without a doubt cause nostalgia in the years to come.

After much preparation for our hosting of the Copa del Rey final between Valencia and Barcelona as well as lots of scepticism with regards to the end result, Veles et Vents turned out to be the perfect location for the viewing party, and what a spectacle it was. With sets from only the best house selectors before the match started and after the game finished, the entire building was shaking and vibes were kicking all night long until 3 AM.

Never Dull‘s remix last month went down a treat, and with recognition across the board, we couldn’t have been more pleased, producing yet another springboard for us as a team to go from strength to strength, and continue to improve the quality of our releases and the relationship we have with our family ❤️.

Our man Gazzz696 has pulled through yet again, with another wonderful month of posts, with content both new and old, heard and unheard, constantly uploading the freshest house tracks, and we can’t thank him enough. We use his content daily not just for chilling in the office, but for sampling and creating new sounds and ideas with what we hear. So thank you!

This year we have two features from London’s very own Girls of the Internet and Joe Corti, with a new yet incredible talent at producing and mixing, as well as French powerhouse Ethyène showing yet again his incredible prowess from his beat lab in Lyon.

Rhode & Brown – Langusto Dance Orchestra

Sinusic – Pleasure

Joe Corti – The First Time

Joe Corti – Fourth Base

Ethyène – Painful 4 The Prick

Less J – Old Family Tapes

Tilman – FFYS

Girls Of the Internet – U already Know (12″ Disco Mix)

HUGO – A Cure For Wellness

Edd – I Got ‘Em

Enjoy April fam!

Top 10 Tracks from Gazzz696 – April 2019

April was yet another exciting and fun-filled month for us, and as we continue to welcome the sun back into our lives after quite a wet and unenjoyable period, expect to be met with a whole plethora of musical affairs, as we not only look to grow our incredible family through beautiful music, but bring you more releases as we look to expose more talented musicians.

Last month, Kaotiko welcomed us in their urban store as we filled their shop with only the best selections of house and disco, Castellón received us with loving arms as we brought the finest music an hour North of Valencia and took our prime selectors and not to mention our quick visit to Barcelona’s very own Discos Paradiso record store promoting our third edition of Dias de Campo this coming month.

Last weekend saw our arrival to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and with hundreds gathering as the sunset hit the heart of the city, there is no denying that this event was one for the books. Playing a set in Ayuntamiento has always been one of our dreams, and as they say; they did indeed come true, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the reception. As the month continues, we will be hitting you people with more events than ever under the warm Valencian sun as the days get hotter and night temperatures become more pleasurable.

This month, Gazzz696 has irrefutably presented to us his best month so far, meaning that our shortlist this month will also be the the best yet, and what better way to kick our favourite posts off than with our latest release with our new favourite artist Never Dull, who is now receiving the exposure he deserves. Also posted by Housem’s eminent YouTube channel, there lays no doubt in our minds that his avant-guard production techniques will make him quite the household name in music.

Watch out for this dude.

1.  Never Dull – What Is That Sound

2. Letherette – Just for You

3. Hurlee – Whats Your Problem

Edu Imbernon joins the cartel for Dias de Campo

Hailing from Valencia, this young visionary DJ and producer has become quite the celebrity not only on home soil, but also that of the international music scene. With an international touring schedule throughout the year, it is no surprise that his songs have reached the ears of millions and the name Edu alone can only point in one direction when the topic of music arises in conversation.

Destined to study Economics at the University of Valencia, Edu decided that his vocation might not be regurgitating information about how the Heckscher-Ohlin Model shows effects of trade, but rather life in front of the crowd and and behind the decks be it.

His unique blend of electronica, house and indie music spawned from his arrival in Berlin, where his track «el baile alemán» alongside Catalan DJ and friend Coyu, on Liebe Detail’s label was appointed «Best Underground Track of the Year» by Beatport in 2009 and stayed at #1 for two solid weeks, which wasn’t a common occurrence at the time….

FAYER

2012 saw the birth of FAYER music, and has quickly become an international phenomenon in electronic music. Holding irregular events on the east cost of Spain, with no more than 100 people attending in its nascence, the brand and label has gone from strength to strength as it continues to surprise those who attend the events, and follow the music the label releases. Seven years later, the label has been involved with and hosted some of the biggest names in music, including The Martinez Brothers, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler to name but a few. The sheer magnitude of the aforementioned names alone just goes to show how only the best can transform humble beginnings into a career bearing many fruits.

Initially held in a spontaneous way, the origin and result was a party between friends held without the desire for profit. Quickly ‘the family’ grew and had no choice but to move to the Oven room of the Valencia’s  La3 Club. Years later, Fayer has become a brand with the aim of its commitment to be an international reference in the always bubbling scene of electronic music.

Dubbed by some as El Rey de España, he is flying the flag and is flying it high, exhibiting his raw talent in not only his live sets and at his studio, but also his prowess within remixes, as seen in The XX’s Crystalised below.

As a DJ, Edu’s truly global touring schedule continues to mature. Each of the last 3 years have seen over 100 shows across 30 countries in over 5 continents with stand out sets at some of the biggest festivals on the world stage including Sonar, TomorrowLand, Coachella, Ultra, and BPM Festival. Not to mention London’s Fabric, Berlin’s Watergate and Warung Beach Club in Brazil; and being the nucleus of dance music, Edu has held consecutive Space Ibiza residencies bookended by performances at the legendary opening and closing parties.

I started DJing at the age of 16 after a short trip to Ibiza and the discovery of this music.

Listen to his deep and imaginative take on his good friend Sutja Gutiérrez’s song «Your Rules».

With our third edition of Dias de Campo just around the corner, theBasement’s very own WHATEVER CHARLES saw fit to ask Edu in a recent interview about his thoughts of not only the festival, but also about the growing musical scene that Valencia has offered in the last decade and its recovery after the cessation of La Ruta del Bakalao.

‘[Dias de Campo] surprised me a lot…I see it as growing rapidly and it couldn’t be better organised’

For those Spanish speakers that desire an interesting an informative take on the electronic scene in Valencia and his thoughts on Dias de Campo, give it a listen below.

I’m a very melodic person, but I’m aware not everyone is, so what I try to do is combine melodic or dreamy music with more direct tracks that need no thinking, just dancing.

Playing two of the three days we have at Dias de Campo, Edu will most definitely bring something new to the table, and with his maturity in the dance scene, he is exactly the addition we wanted and the icing on the cake for the festival. We can’t wait for you to experience this genius if you haven’t already.

Here is the rough agenda as to which artists are playing on what day. The set-by-set schedule will be released in the coming days, as we look to get it perfect and make your festival experience the best it can possibly be.

Grab the last few available tickets here!

See you on the weekend.

Love from theBasement team!
